Aviation Career Education (ACE) Academy

The Aviation Career Education (ACE) Academy is a week-long summer camp program held at Lewis University every summer. The ACE Academy is designed to introduce inner city students, age 13 thru 18, to flying and aviation related careers. Academy participants learn about the world of aviation by participating in classroom activities and field trips.

ACE Academy Participants will:

Learn about airplanes, flying, and flight safety
Take orientation flights
Attend the EAA Oshkosh Air Show
Visit Midway Airport & FAA Control Tower
Meet and talk with aviation professionals

The camp is a collaborative effort between the Federal Aviation Administration; Lewis University; the Organization of Black Airline Pilots; the National Black Coalition of Federal Aviation Employees; the Chicago “DODO” Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen Inc, Omega Airport Transportation Company and several other area businesses are supporting organizations.

This year there are 20 slots available in the ACE Academy. Slots will be filled first with students who have never attended an ACE Academy. In addition interested students must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be at least 13 years old by June 29, 2020
  • Have at least a “C” Average
  • Be physically fit to participate in camp activities
  • Be interested in aviation!

2020 ACE Academy Application

ACE Academy tuition is $400.00 and is to be paid when a student is notified of acceptance. The tuition covers meals, field trip transportation, and other Academy
activities.
