Life Skills & Mentoring

How We Imagine Life Skills & Mentoring (SLM)

The CDCTAI STEM Life Skills, & Mentoring (SLM) concept is an aspirational program which would be conducted as a critical prerequisite component of our pipeline aviation education concept.

The mission of the STEM program would be to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities necessary to succeed in the aviation and aerospace sectors. The program envisions a future where students from diverse backgrounds can access quality education and career pathways, contributing to the growth of these industries.

SLM would consist of a 2-week in-residence summer program for High School sophomores & juniors. It will provide high quality math & science instructional review workshops, along with Life Skills training in a Mentored environment.

Our target audience will be students who have demonstrated an interest and aptitude for aviation and related fields. SLM will provide situational awareness discussions, and innovative instructional approaches to prepare them for successful futures. Success in high school and success in college and beyond, require good academic and emotional foundations. We also believe that success in completing the challenging requirements of an aviation education requires this type of prerequisite preparation.Tuskegee Airmen Logo

Following SLM, students will be invited to apply for the Tuskegee Next program. The Tuskegee NEXT Summer Flight Program is a full-time, residential program in the Chicago area that runs from mid-June to mid-August. The Program culminates in students earning their wings and private pilots licenses. https://www.tuskegeenext.org/program
